what’s left to discover?

“After almost 8 years of being together, don’t you think you know each other well enough already?”

That is perhaps the most common question I’ve encountered after people heard that we would be attending the Discovery Weekend in May. Initially, even Mike was hesitant for us to attend. But I felt that it would be an enriching experience for both of us and an important step that we had to go through. So after some non-discreet hinting, I finally convinced him to agree to join.

We took half the day off that Friday to get to the retreat house on time. We began the evening with introductions and a rundown of how our schedule would look in the days ahead. It was, to say the least, quite tight!

Without giving too much away (lest some of you might want to join the Discovery Weekend one of these days), the conversations that Mike and I shared during that weekend in May were perhaps the deepest and most thought-provoking discussions we’ve had in the entire time that we’ve been together. Topics we never even touched in the past were pulled out… we were told to dig deep and just spit it out, so we did. Tears were shed (mostly by me) but they were all worth it. I definitely recommend this experience to couples out there who are thinking of taking their relationship further.

So what’s left to discover? Trust me, a whole lot. ☺
